London 2012
To all who took part be it organising, volunteering or competing, I salute you.
I watched it pretty much constantly from the start of the opening ceremony to the end of the closing ceremony. For what it’s worth I thought it was an awesome, inspiring, spectacle that has made me think that maybe, just maybe, mankind isn’t doomed after all.
What a joy to turn on the news (at any time of the day) and be immediately greeted by positive stories about extraordinary feats of determination, pride and passion of people from all nations, that make you go “Wow!”. A massive change from the overpowering weight of negativity that is war, politics and the worldwide “culture of blame” that we are constantly force-fed by the written and broadcast media.
I’m going to miss it, but I’m damn well going to get those running shoes out again and fill the void with some exercise. If my feet give me any more problems I’m just going to shout at them and tell them tales of the heroics I witnessed at the 30th Olympiad until they give in, stop hurting and start making me go faster, higher and stronger
A wonderful two weeks.
